Pillar 10 // Radar Alarms

Radar Alarms

Radar Alarms is Civic Radar's protocol library — police-, medical-, and specialist-vetted guidance for real situations, turned into a searchable library, a readiness quiz that rewards learning, and a community reporting loop for scenarios the library doesn't cover yet.

Best on a larger screen: the side-by-side view shows every annotation at once.

01 Your saved protocols come first

The protocols you rely on most sit right at the top of the list, ahead of everything else in the full safety library below.

02 A dead end still points somewhere

A search or filter with no results doesn't just say so — it offers the offline download shortcut and, just below it, the option to report the missing scenario directly.

03 Offline access is the Sentinel perk, not the content

Every protocol reads for free to anyone — the paywall sits only on saving them to a device, framed as “Become a Sentinel,” not as gated knowledge.

04 One tap, and the whole library goes offline

For a Sentinel, downloading isn't per-protocol busywork — a single action pulls all 12 and marks each card with a checkmark, with “tap to clear downloads” as the visible undo.

05 Video first, text available, never required

Each protocol leads with a captioned, silent-by-default video that dims for night use, then offers the full written protocol as an optional expand — useful with a screen half-glanced at in the dark.

06 Three questions, not a certification exam

The readiness quiz keeps the bar low — three multiple-choice questions per protocol — so finishing one feels like a two-minute check-in, not a course.

07 Points and badges land on the same screen as the score

Passing a quiz surfaces the readiness points earned and any badge unlocked in one result screen — the reward is immediate, not buried in a separate profile tab.

08 Reporting a gap starts with a blank sentence

Trigger a Radar Alarm opens with just a free-text prompt — describe the situation — before asking for any category or severity, so nothing blocks a resident from starting.

09 You can't send it until it's complete

Filling in what happened, its category, and how serious it is unlocks reporting — so nothing gets sent half-finished.

10 Logged isn't the same as published

Confirmation names the actual pipeline — Content Team, then Police, Fire, or Medical authorities — before anything goes live for other residents, so the report doesn't read as an instant broadcast.

11 Every report a resident filed, tracked like a delivery

My Reported Alarms mirrors the same four-stage pipeline as a status list, filterable by All, In Progress, and Live — a resident can check back without re-opening each report.

12 Check on a report without losing your place

Tapping into a report shows its full status right there, without ever leaving the list you were looking at.
