The Sweep (Map)
The Sweep is the hyper-local map at the centre of Civic Radar — found and lost items, safety reports, and community happenings, dropped as pins by real neighbours. Sentinels can post and reply; Citizens see everything but post through Sentinels. A Safe Haven network and a private note-to-self layer round it out.
Best on a larger screen: the side-by-side view shows every annotation at once.
Pins cluster by proximity, colour-coded by type — found items, safety reports, community happenings — all on one map.
Zoomed out, nearby pins collapse into a single badge with a count, so the map stays readable instead of drowning in markers.
Zoom into a cluster and it separates into its individual pins — no separate tap needed, just proximity.
Long-press to drop a pin, then pick who it's for — neighbours, Guardians, or just yourself — each with its own category set.
A long-press arms a reticle you can drag before committing — the pin lands exactly where you mean it to.
Sentinels see the whole thread and can reply directly — the posting privilege that keeps the Sweep accountable.
The same post, viewed as a Citizen: photo and reply access both sit behind a clear, one-tap upgrade.
Personal pins — a note, a parked-car marker, a photo memory — stay private with no thread underneath, because no one else can see them.
Reply to a specific comment and both sides can see it — a highlighted quote below, and the person's name shown above your reply.
Take a photo or pull one from your library — the same simple picker you already use everywhere else on your phone.
Multiple photos swipe through a single pin with dot indicators, instead of splitting one report across several posts.
Some local businesses host a Safe Haven — this one surfaces right on the pin for the café that offers it.
Small personal items only, staffed hours shown up front, and a clear redirect if what you're holding doesn't qualify.
The default filter mode: everything, with just a community heat-map toggle and a "remember this" option.
Switch to Customize and the map opens up: who posted it, what category, how recent, place by place.
A quick "what's new" summary shows what happened since your last visit, so you're not re-scanning the whole map to catch up.
