Pillar 01 // Sign-up

Sign-up

From scanning a lost item's tag to becoming a fully set-up Sentinel, sign-up walks through what's asked at each stage — profile basics, an avatar instead of a photo, an optional public introduction, private medical details, and, if you choose to become a Sentinel, the plan, tags, and checkout that come with it.

Best on a larger screen: the side-by-side view shows every annotation at once.

01 Start by scanning a tag

Found someone's lost keys or bag? Scanning the tag on it opens a page that connects you with the owner, securely and without seeing their personal details.

02 One tap to the app

That page leads straight to downloading Civic Radar — free to join, with the option to become a Sentinel later.

03 A simple first impression

The app opens with a single, calming message before anything else — setting the tone before you're asked for any information.

04 What Civic Radar actually is

A short introduction explains the idea in one line: your neighbourhood's safety network, built by the people who live in it.

05 See it in action first

A short video shows a real kind of exchange the app makes possible, before asking you to commit to anything.

06 Free comes first

Before any pitch to upgrade, this screen lays out exactly what's already free as a Neighbour, and what becoming a Sentinel would add on top.

07 The case for becoming a Sentinel

Real numbers and a neighbour's story make the case for stepping up to a Sentinel — with a clear option to stay a Neighbour instead.

08 Four steps, nothing shared yet

Before starting, you see exactly what's coming — About You, Avatar, Public Profile, and Medical — and know nothing is shared with anyone until you decide.

09 The basics, kept private

Name, address, and date of birth — only your address and contact details are ever used to reach you, and everything else stays private by default.

10 A face without your face

Instead of a photo, you pick a symbol that represents you to other Sentinels — recognizable without exposing your real identity.

11 Or make one that's really yours

If none of the ready-made options feel right, you can combine a base shape with an accent to build something unique.

12 You choose what to share

Adding a card to introduce yourself is optional, and you decide exactly who gets to see each one before it's ever shared.

13 See it the way they will

Before publishing anything, you can preview your profile exactly as a nearby Sentinel or a saved contact would see it.

14 Only shared in an emergency

Blood type, allergies, medications, and emergency contacts — every field is optional, and none of it is visible to anyone unless responders need it during an emergency.

15 Who to call if something happens

You can list up to three people to be contacted in an emergency, along with a ready-made message so nothing has to be typed out in the moment.

16 Say it the way you'd want

Pick from a few pre-written emergency messages, or write your own — whatever feels right for the person you're listing.

17 Someone to step in when needed

You can name a trusted person, called a Steward, who would only ever get access to your Vault — and only if you're no longer able to manage things yourself.

18 Exactly what a responder would see

You can preview your emergency card before finishing sign-up, so there are no surprises about what gets shown if it's ever scanned.

19 You're set, right away

As soon as the basics are in, your profile is saved — you can always come back and fill in more later.

20 Choose how you'd support it

If you decide to become a Sentinel, you can pick monthly, yearly, or quarterly billing — whichever fits how you like to pay.

21 Pick your first tags

Choose which smart tags to start with — for keys, a wallet, a bag, or beyond — organized by where you'd actually use them.

22 We'll suggest a starter kit

A ready-made starter kit shows exactly what you'd get, with your first five tags included at no extra cost.

23 Lock it down before checkout

Creating a login and turning on two-factor authentication is what protects your Sentinel profile and medical information going forward.

24 A password with real requirements

A clear, visible checklist confirms your password meets the bar, and two-factor authentication — Face ID or an SMS code — is required, not optional.

25 Delivery, sorted automatically

Your shipping address is pulled in from your profile by default, so there's nothing to re-type unless you want to change it.

26 Easy to change your mind

Orders can be cancelled within 30 minutes of placing them, or modified anytime before they ship — with email updates along the way.

27 Your order, laid out clearly

Every item, the shipping cost, and tax are broken down before you get to payment — nothing added quietly at the end.

28 A little extra, if you'd like

You can add more starter tags or a small contribution back to the neighbourhoods Civic Radar serves — both entirely optional.

29 Pay however's easiest

PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay sit right at the top as one-tap options, with a card or e-Transfer available underneath.

30 Standard card details, nothing unusual

Card number, expiry, and billing address — the same fields you'd expect anywhere, pulled in from your profile where possible.

31 One last look before you commit

Reviewing your order comes next, so nothing is charged until you've seen the full total and confirmed everything is right.

32 Everything in one place

Your information, billing address, and delivery details all appear together, so there's one last chance to catch anything before it's final.

33 The full total, no surprises

Subtotal, shipping, and tax all add up in view — nothing hidden until after you've placed the order.

34 You're always agreeing to something specific

Terms and a privacy notice are linked right where you confirm the order, and nothing is charged until you tap Place order.
