The Frequencies (Community Hub)

The Frequencies is Civic Radar's shared feed — Guardian alerts from the city sit above neighbour posts, sponsored Beacon offers stay clearly labelled and EKC-vetted, and an inline Q&A composer lets residents ask an alert a direct question instead of waiting on a hotline.

Best on a larger screen: the side-by-side view shows every annotation at once.

01 Guardian alerts collapse to one card, impossible to miss

Emergency and Important alerts from the city and Civic Radar always lead the feed, collapsed by default into a single full-width card — with a rolled-up summary for anything else waiting behind it.

02 The same feed, fewer verbs

A Citizen sees the identical feed minus Like and Compose — Comments and Send stay, so they can still help without an account.

03 A question box built right into the alert

Expanding the alert reveals the map, the update text, and a running Q&A with its own attach-and-ask composer — photo, camera, or location — sitting right where the answers already are, so residents can ask a direct question without leaving the card.

04 Nothing invented past what was published

When a question falls outside the official update, the alert says so plainly and routes it to the authority instead of guessing.

05 New Post: category comes first

New Post asks for a category before anything else — Found, Lost, Seen, Searching, Urgent, To sell — plus an Ad Lib option for whatever doesn't fit.

06 New Post: attaching photos or video

The photo picker accepts up to five items, video included at 30 seconds — empty state sets the ceiling before anything's added.

07 Every photo stays editable

Each photo can be cropped and adjusted right where it was added, so nothing has to be perfect before it's attached.

08 A pin, not an address

Adding a location drops a single required pin on the map — there's no free-text address field hiding underneath it.

09 Ask a question on any alert, not just emergencies

Even routine updates — like a heat warning — let you ask a direct question the same way the top emergency alert does, not a stripped-down version.

10 Contacts stand out from strangers

Comments from your own Blips carry a CONTACT tag; everyone else appears simply as “A neighbour” — reply and like actions sit under every line.

11 Reserved — gamification level view

Not yet designed. Placeholder standing in until the Pedigree/Level overlay (opened from an avatar tap) gets built.

12 A level-up interrupts the scroll, briefly

Reaching a new EKC tier surfaces a confetti card right in the feed — dismissible, with a lightweight Congrats action instead of a full detail page.

13 The real post, not a summary

Saved posts open the actual card — photo, pill, comment count, and all three actions — not a stripped-down reference back to the feed.

14 One filter for everyone posting, not three separate ones

Sentinel status, Beacon categories, and Guardian alerts can all be filtered from the same screen, organized by who posted rather than what type of post it is.

15 Filter by the people you already trust

Scrolling into Blips turns the filter into a people-picker — tap any recent contact to scope the feed to just them.

16 Distance, dates, and a media-only toggle

The bottom of the sheet adds a distance radius, a date range, and a simple “has photo or video” switch before Apply Filters.

17 Sponsored, and told to your face why

Tapping the info icon on a sponsored post opens the EKC ad standard in plain language — what's preferred, what's never allowed, and where ads can never appear.

18 Edit and Delete replace Like on your own post

A Beacon viewing its own post loses the standard action row entirely — Edit reopens the same composer pre-filled, Delete asks for confirmation first.

19 Never a truly empty feed

Even before any neighbour posts exist, city-wide Guardian alerts still show — a first-time Sentinel never opens to a blank screen.
